As part of their experience on the dig, all staff, students and volunteers on DEAP are asked to write a dig diary, describing their day. It does not have to be purely archaeological, it can record any part of their experiences. In the first year of the dig, Gaelic student placement, Murdo MacSween tried to translate the diaries into Gaelic for the website, but this turned out to be an unrealistic task given the colloquialisms often used. Instead in 2006 Calum Iain Bartlett, had written his own diary each day to record his experiences on DEAP over the six weeks and this can be accessed through the 2006 link below. In 2007, the last year of the dig, Gaelic placement student Mairi Alice Bartlett recorded her own experiences, accessed at the 2007 link below. To view the 2007 site diary click here.
